Pray for Rain

Demanding a motive for the pain
externally focused you remain
but you’ll never be all you can
with your eyes on me
Delusional scapegoats will retain
chagrin with some god that you can blame
but you’ll never like what you get
if you never bleed

Pray for rain
We need a thunderstorm
so we’ll be the thunderstorm
Pump your fists and let it all out
Raise your voice and take it home now
Pray for rain
We need a thunderstorm
so we’ll be the thunderstorm
Cleanse your soul and shake the core
Stand your ground and claim control
Pray for rain
We need a thunderstorm
so we’ll be the thunderstorm
Don’t deny the pain inside
With open arms receive the light
Pray for rain
We need a thunderstorm
so we’ll be the thunderstorm
Our cause has been declared
Now let the rain pour down

The bloodiest war that I’ve ever seen
is not overseas – it’s inside of me
The only choice that you ever knew
It’s not anywhere but inside of you

This goes beyond our nations
Our culture and our races
Our science and our laws
Currency and shopping malls
Fabricated gods
Reflective of our flaws
We’re all dying like dogs
As told by endless blogs
But we can flip this around
What’s lost will soon be found
Launch up from the ground
With wings of fire unbound

Pray for rain
we need a thunderstorm
to cleanse our filthy core
we need a thunderstorm
and you are a thunderstorm!
